While the new RV market continues to struggle, the used side of the business is telling a very different story.

New RV Sales Continue to Slide

New RV retail registrations fell 16.87% year-over-year in April, according to an article in RV Business highlighting a recent report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), marking the eighth consecutive month of declines. But used RVs are moving. Used RV sales posted a 5.66% year-over-year gain in April — a signal of stronger consumer demand for pre-owned models. Travel trailers led the charge, up around 9%.

Used RV Demand Is Building Momentum

It’s not a one-month blip either — used registrations rose 6.56% in March and 1.57% in February, suggesting buyers are actively seeking value in a market where new unit prices remain elevated.

What This Means for Buyers

For shoppers, the timing is worth noting. Inventory is up, dealer competition is real, and prices have come down from their post-pandemic highs. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to buy used, the data suggests that moment may be now.
