Kampgrounds of America (KOA) have announced their self-selected 2020 “Campground of the Year” award winner, as well as this year’s “Rising Star” property.
Denise and Deene Yenchochic’s Uniontown KOA Holiday in Uniontown, Pennsylvania won the organizations top award at their recent convention.
In 2005, the couple purchased the small, neglected park alongside the meandering Youghiogheny River. In the years since, they built it into a large family resort, with two swimming pools, deluxe cabins, patio sites, teepees, and a playground. But it’s the service that shines at Uniontown. The Yenchochic’s campground received one of the top service scores of any park in the KOA system from its campers, and has received a perfect score on its annual KOA Quality Assurance Review every year since 2016.
The Travelers Rest /North Greenville KOA Holiday — located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in upstate South Carolina — won the company’s “Rising Star” award, given to an exceptional campground that has been part of the KOA system for five years or less. Jason and Rebecca Tubb’s park achieved the top customer service scores for the entire 515-park KOA system for each of the five years they’ve owned the campground.
