The Better Business Bureau won’t be swinging by Buc-ee’s for any Beaver Nuggets anytime soon.

The BBB currently lists the popular Texas-based travel center chain with an “F” rating, according to its website.

The rating stems largely from 88 complaints filed against the company and what the BBB says is Buc-ee’s failure to respond to them.

Complaints Focus on Customer Service and Communication

According to the BBB, a common theme in complaints is difficulty contacting the company.

Some customers say they submitted inquiries through Buc-ee’s website but never received a response.

In one complaint from May 2025, a customer said they paid at the pump but no fuel was dispensed, while their card was still charged. The customer said they tried contacting the company for a refund but were unable to reach anyone.

Other complaints describe poor customer service or situations where managers allegedly could not resolve issues.

Several Complaints Highlight Refund Issues

The BBB also highlighted examples that illustrate the pattern.

In an August 2025 complaint, a customer said they were told they could return a broken product and that an employee even wrote a note on their receipt instructing them to speak with a manager. When the customer returned to the store, they said the same manager refused to help.

In another complaint from March 2025, a customer said she accidentally purchased a car wash and went back to request a refund. She said employees told her there was nothing they could do and she was unable to reach anyone at the company’s corporate office afterward.

Another customer review cited by the BBB involved a sandwich purchased at a Buc-ee’s location that allegedly contained large chunks of fat. According to the review, a manager acknowledged the issue but said employees were not authorized to issue a refund.

Buc-ee’s Still Ranks Highly in Other Surveys

Despite the BBB rating, Buc-ee’s remains one of the most recognizable travel center brands in the country.

The company operates 54 locations across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Colorado and Texas, according to its website.

And while the BBB rating may raise eyebrows with some customers, it is worth noting that over the years, the reputation of the BBB has declined as many now see it as nothing more than a “pay for ratings” site, a game which many businesses refuse to play. Additionally, Buc-ee’s continues to perform well in other industry rankings. The chain was ranked No. 5 in the 2025 American Customer Satisfaction Index for convenience stores.
