As Campground reservations become more competitive, especially during peak camping season, CampScanner, a new product from the team at Harvest Hosts, looks to solve the reservation issue.

CampScanner will provide campers access to search for campsites at sold-out public campgrounds and receive notifications when sites become available.

CampScanner’s database includes 12,500 campgrounds, 4,900 parks, and 200,000+ of the toughest-to-find campsites at some of the most popular campgrounds and destinations in the country.

“The process of booking campgrounds has become increasingly challenging with the recent road travel boom,” says Joel Holland, CEO of Harvest Hosts. “We are thrilled to launch CampScanner to help bring back the joy of last-minute travel and ease of booking on the go for campers across the country.”

How Does It Work?

Instead of checking each site repeatedly to look for cancellations, CampScanner does that for you. You can create a scan based on your travel dates and locations and CampScanner will scan those locations up to every 5 minutes.

Campers will receive an alert when something new becomes available to book. You then head directly to that campground’s website and book the spot.

What Campgrounds are in the Database?

Currently, the database pulls information from campgrounds listed on Recreation.gov, which is nearly all federal campgrounds (including national parks, national forests, Army Corps of Engineers, and more), along with California state parks and state or local campgrounds that use the Reserve America system

What does CampScanner cost?

CampScanner has three pricing tiers: Basecamp ($39/year), Trailhead ($49/year), and Summit ($79/year). Each tier is based on the frequency of scans and the number of scans that can be running at a given time.

With 92 million American households identifying as campers, according to the 2023 KOA Camping Report, it’s becoming more and more important to have tools to streamline the search process.

CampScanner is the latest in a growing number of Harvest Hosts products. They acquired Boondockers Welcome in 2021 and recently launched the CampersCard program – aimed at offering discounts and perks at campgrounds across the country.
