Solo Stove, makers of the popular low-smoke fire pits, have released a new product called the Solo Stove Pi – a portable dual-fuel pizza oven.
Released on 3/14 (Pi Day), the Pi uses Solo Stove’s signature airflow to surround the pizza with wood-fired flavor, or you can adapt it to propane fuel with an optional gas burner.
It’s not a Solo Stove accessory — the Pi is a stand-alone unit that can make 4, 12-inch pizzas per hour and can be used on any heat-resistant surface in the outdoors.
The fire should be burned with 4”-5” chunks of kiln-dried cooking wood, which will impart the distinct wood-fired flavor to your pizzas or anything else you cook in the Pi. Solo Stove sells bags of cooking wood, but you can also pick it up at most big-box hardware stores.
The Pi comes with a Cordierite pizza stone, and optional accessories are offered, including wood and steel pizza peels, a cover, and an infrared thermometer.
The Pi lists for $599, but for the launch, it’s on sale for $424.99. A “starter bundle” including the Pi oven, a stainless peel, the pizza stone, a pizza cutter, and a thermometer is on sale for $509, with an estimated ship date of May 9th. Solo Stove says quantities are very limited at the moment, so if you’re looking for a good Mother’s or Father’s day gift, now might be the time to grab one.
