This episode was all about our experience in Raleigh, N.C. We stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown Raleigh, which boasted a kitchen, separate bedroom, and living space, conveniently located to many downtown attractions.
The free North Carolina Museum of Natural Science was one of our first and favorite stops. It’s right across the street from the also free North Carolina Museum of History.
We stopped at The Pit for some high-end Carolina barbecue and skillet cornbread.
The Mordecai House and grounds were a neat stop. It’s the oldest house in Raleigh still on its foundation, and several other historic structures have been relocated to the site, including the birthplace of President Andrew Johnson.
Big Ed’s City Market offered some down-home Southern cookin’, including a legit blue plate special.
Marbles Kids Museum is one of the best we’ve come across, with a pirate ship play structure, a workout zone and more.
We ended our trip with a stop at Videri Chocolate Factory, for some house-roasted chocolate confections.
