There is one campground laundry habit that seems to frustrate almost everyone: starting a load of laundry, leaving the laundry room, and then not coming back when the washer or dryer finishes.
I get it. Campground laundry is nobodyโs favorite chore, and it is really easy to think, โIโll just run back to the rig quickly,” and the next thing you know, it’s been 30 minutes, 45 minutes, an hour…and you suddenly remember you have laundry in the washer or dryer. But here’s the thing – when clothes sit in a finished machine, two things happen – you either keep someone else from being able to do their laundry, which might be the fastest way to become enemy #1 in the campground, or you might come back to find your wet clothes flung onto a table with no available dryers because. You waited too long, and your fellow campers moved on with their lives.

The Simple Fix
Most of us are squeezing laundry into a travel day, a rainy day, or that one small window of downtime, so it’s already an annoyance. Don’t add to it.
If you start a load, and you have to leave, set a timer on your phone and head back a few minutes before it ends. If you have the time to stay, stay. Bring a book, watch a show on your phone. Enjoy the quiet time.
However you do it, just know you will have the gratitude of the next camper who also has that thankless job of washing the family’s unmentionables that they probably carried a decent distance from their campsite to the laundry room.
