Airstream has sent a letter to its dealer network announcing that it will no longer ship aluminum parts to anyone other than an authorized Airstream dealer, raising concerns among some owners and independent repair shops about future access to vital repair parts.
Airstream Cuts Aluminum Parts
The change will affect owners who prefer to use third-party shops, owners who do not have an authorized dealer near their residence, or who require aluminum replacement parts for repairs outside the authorized dealer network.

We reached out to Airstream for a comment and were provided the following statement on April 28th via Shipyard Turner, Airstreams’ PR representatives:
This operational update is not a response to domestic aluminum shortages. As an OEM, Airstream has always prioritized supporting our authorized dealer network, and that approach is not changing. Our recent operational update to how we manage long-term aluminum parts distribution was made to streamline internal processes and better support dealers in servicing customers.ย
So for now, it looks like any aluminum work, regardless of proximity, will need to be done by one of Airstream’s authorized dealers.
