SAN ANTONIO — Beginning this summer, families of all abilities will be able to take a splash-filled adventure in SAN ANTONIO, when the world’s first “ultra-accessible” splash park debuts at Morgan’s Wonderland theme park.

Morgan’s Inspiration Island is billed as a destination that “inspires people with special needs to do things previously thought impossible.” Included in the $16 million project are six major tropically-themed elements. The River Boat Adventure ride will twist and turn more than an eighth of a mile through a jungle setting with bird and animal sounds in the background. Five water play areas – Hang 10 Harbor, Rainbow Reef, Shipwreck Island, Castaway Bay and Calypso Cove – will offer a variety of splashy elements such as raintrees, falls, geysers, jets, water cannons and tipping buckets.

A revolutionary waterproof wheelchair propelled entirely by compressed air will enable special-needs individuals to fully experience the park.

“We want Morgan’s Inspiration Island physically-challenged guests to be able to enjoy our new splash park to the max,” said Gordon Hartman, founder of The Gordon Hartman Family Foundation and builder of unique Morgan’s Wonderland theme park.  “Guests who rely on expensive power chairs for mobility can’t afford to get them wet.”

Morgan’s Wonderland was built in 2010 as the world’s first theme park designed with special-needs individuals in mind.
