A Maverik gas station in Montrose, Colorado, had to shut down its diesel pumps after someone reportedly dumped their RV black tank into the station’s underground diesel storage tank.

According to Cowboy State Daily, the incident happened sometime on Memorial Day. A station employee confirmed the next day that RV waste had been dumped into the underground diesel tank and said the diesel pumps were shut down.

A post shared in a local Facebook group said the RV driver dumped into one of the large access covers near the road, which led directly into the diesel tank.

What Happens Now?

The station had also apparently just received a new diesel delivery before the incident, meaning the contaminated tank will need to be pumped out and cleaned before diesel sales can resume.

It’s unclear whether the person responsible has been identified, but the cleanup could be costly. The incident left the station’s diesel supply contaminated and its pumps offline until the tank can be emptied and cleaned.
