Good Sam, the services arm of Camping World Holdings, has entered the campground management software and campsite reservation arena with the purchase of Nomad Reservations, which is marketed publicly as CampgroundBooking.com.

“This technology acquisition complements other planned product launches such as the Peer-to-Peer RV Rental Platform and represents our goal of improving the RV and outdoor experience for our current and future consumers,” said Marcus Lemonis, CEO and Chairman of Camping World Holdings. “These tools provide relevant data for real-time marketing messaging and engagement with our brand.”

Co-founded by Heath Padgett and Paul Ryan, CampgroundBooking.com is one of several software services competing fiercely to provide campgrounds with reservation solutions. The acquisition will allow the company to quickly expand upon the nearly 100 campgrounds that already operate on the system.

“When we started Campground Booking in 2016, our goal was to not only modernize the campground reservation process but to improve the lack of technology in the outdoor industry as a whole,” said Padgett. “This partnership will allow us to quickly scale our development team and achieve our 2-3 year goals by the end of 2021.”

Camping World has been in a major growth phase, acquiring more than a dozen independent RV dealerships this year. It’s Good Sam subsidiary — which offers primarily roadside assistance, insurance and extended warranties — boasts over 2 million members.
