New Program Offers Travelers 5000 U.S. Health Clubs for Under $10 a Month

Technology startup Localfit has begun a pre-enrollment period for its new health club membership option for United States Travelers. Similar to the popular MoviePass model, Localfit members will pay a flat monthly fee to receive unlimited access to more than 5,000 premier health clubs and more than 1,000 fitness studios when out on the road.

The company just finished a beta program over the first half of the year at 550 clubs along the East Coast, and Localfit founder Rob Gilliam anticipates widespread support and demand. “We only allow top-tier clubs within a given geographic area on our platform, hand-selecting those that offer the best amenities and the cleanest facilities,” he said. “With our emphasis on quality control and attractive monthly subscription fee, there’s no option out there that remotely approaches Localfit’s value.”

Members can find health clubs using an app, and then use their access card for entry. For those who pre-enroll, Localfit memberships will be available for as low as $4.95 per month – a 50 percent savings over the regular retail price. Members will be able to begin accessing gyms at some point in August.

If you’re thinking about ditching your local gym measurement for something like this, you can’t. The one catch is that you can only access clubs 35 miles or more from your home address. But for heavy travelers, it’s a great deal, especially RVers who camp often without hookups and need access to a shower.

Following the launch, Localfit intends to add additional clubs and studios. For more information visit localfitusa.com.
